The 11+ is a rigorous process and a wide range of skills and knowledge is required to achieve success. Support available includes maths, English, VR, NVR, problem solving, interview technique, exam technique and cross curricular learning.

The 7+ and 8+ examinations cover an extremely wide range of topics and skills. Each of our tutors begin their lessons wth a baseline assessment. Sessions are then tailored to your individual child’s needs. Lessons will also take pupils further than the National Curriculum expectations to ensure children are ready for all aspects of the examinations.

The 4+ focusses on key academic skills such as fine motor skills, number recognition and name writing. However, there is also a huge emphasis on socio-emotional attributes. For example, following instructions carefully and talking clearly. Our sessions are always age-appropriate. Our little leaners love their lessons!

Our phonics and reading sessions are bookable for 30 minute or 1 hour slots. We make sure to match you with a tutor who is familiar with your child’s phonics program. For example, Animaphonics or Read, Write, Inc. Reading is key to academic success in all curriculum areas. Improve your child’s reading and you will find they begin to improve in all subjects.

Primary schools are very fast paced, particularly academically selective preps who often work at least one year ahead of the national curriculum. On occasion, children can miss a concept early on and this leads to problems when they are faced with ever-more challenging learning. For example, children who do not use number bonds fluently will find it difficult to solve larger calculations. At Slater & Green, we assess children individually and tailor lessons accordingly. This can mean reviewing previous curriculum in order to tackle gaps in knowledge. After gaps have been addressed pupils then have the foundation to stretch themselves further.
